Common faults in servo systems of CNC machining centers

2022-09-12 12:02:47

As is well known, the servo system of a machining center is a system that supplies power to the machine tool. Without a servo system, the machining center cannot process the workpiece, so the servo system is very important in the machining center. Once the servo system fails, the entire machining production will stop. Today, the editor will introduce the common faults of the machining center servo system.

The fault modes of the servo system in the machining center include alarm indicators on the speed unit of the CNC, blown fuses, and various maintenance trip switches that trigger alarms. The meaning of the alarm indicator light varies depending on the planning of the speed control unit, and generally includes the following types:

CNC machining center servo system and servo motor

1. The high current can cause the machine tool to sound an alarm. In general, there are two possibilities for the high current alarm to occur: damage to the power drive components on the CNC speed control unit of the machining center and short circuit, resulting in a high current alarm.

2. High voltage can also cause machine tool alarms. There are generally three possible scenarios for generating high voltage alarms: the CNC input voltage of the machining center exceeds 10% of the rated value, or the insulation performance inside the servo motor decreases, or the high voltage is caused by the circuit of the machining center's working speed control unit.

3. The probability of machine tool alarm caused by low voltage on the machining center is extremely rare. This situation may be caused by the input voltage being lower than 85% of the rated value or poor power connection.

4. The alarm caused by the broken reaction road of the detection speed is an error alarm, because the airport itself is not a problem, and the detection reaction system presents a problem. This alarm is mostly caused by the broken speed reaction line of the CNC servo motor in the machining center or poor contact of its detection reaction line.

5. The maintenance switch triggers an alarm. The maintenance switch is a device used to maintain machine tools. For example, when high voltage burns out some components and other emergency measures that the machine tool cannot control, the maintenance switch will activate to avoid unnecessary component damage, similar to a safety stop.

6. Overload alarm can be caused by abnormal load on the CNC machine in the machining center, or by setting the upper limit of the motor current on the speed control unit too low. The long-term magnet falling off from a permanent magnet motor can also cause an overload alarm. If the CNC motor without a brake on the machining center cannot be turned by hand when unloaded or it is difficult to rotate the shaft, it indicates that the long-term magnet has completely fallen off.

7. The fuse on the CNC speed control unit of the machining center is blown or the circuit breaker trips.
